Artist's Comments

After spending a day at the Devil's Punchbowl with :iconseptsky:
We stopped to get dinner "to go" at Applebee's.
My Mom had called me on my cell and said to look at the moon rising over the distant mountains.
While we were waiting for our order, Aimee and I busted out the big guns and fired off several rounds each.
Due to the atmosphere, the Full Moon looked all distorted & orange, but the view was rather awesome! =D

Shot with my Canon 20D and a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 Telephoto lens with 2x Tele-Extender.

stunning shot! I love the detail you captured and the colors are just rich and eye catching.

I caught similiar colors recently :) [link]

I wanted to ask what setting did you use to get the detail on the moon? Been trying to master the night sky shots ;)

Thank you! =D
I used the "Sunny 16 rule" ;)
Because the moon is a sunlit object, you may want to try
using f/16 with shutter speed that is 1-2 stops faster
than the light meter calls for.(I'll tend to keep it around f/8 sometimes)
Your shot may come out dark, but if there is enough light left
in the sky(just after sunset) your sky should come out just fine too :ahoy:
